Divorce is the termination of
marriage by already married couples, it afford the couples the opportunity to
live their separate life. Many marriages around the world have been terminated
through the process of divorce and many more are at the brink of collapse.
There are a lot of married couples out there that can not tolerate each other,
but are afraid to file divorce because of what people will say. Now, is it
possible to avoid divorce? If possible, how can divorce be avoided?
I think the most important thing
couples need to avoid divorce is Christ, if married couples could genuinely put
Christ in their marriage foundation and see him every day of their life, the
marriage will stand sure and withstand any pressure. Most Christian marriages
have survived the pressure of marriage because of their believe in the lordship
of the lord Jesus Christ over their marriage.
Couples must disclose all
information relating to their past life to their spouse. Some people have
formed the habit of keeping back some information from their spouse, only for
their spouse to hear it from some one else, or the suppressed information find
its way back to life.
If for example one of the couples had a baby from someone
else before the marriage was consummated, that couple must disclose the
identity of the child to the partner before marriage. There is no need hiding
the identity of the child by telling your partner, that the child is your
nephew/niece. This could cause a divorce.
Another area that could cause a
divorce in a marriage is infidelity. Marriage infidelity has destroyed many
marriages. When a couple can not control his or her lust for the opposite sex
then that couple is asking for a divorce. I believe that if a couple is genuinely
committed to his or her marriage cause, he or she will be able to avoid extra-marital attraction.
Couples must understand what they
are about going into before they venture into marriage. You don’t just go into
marriage relationship without knowing your partner very well. You can not marry
a man or a woman just because you think that person looks presentable to you,
NO! There are many things underneath a man that can not be seen by mere looking
at the person. You need to be observant to notice such trait. If you jump into
marriage because of the look, you are likely to end up in a divorce.
If couples couple take their time
to understand what they are about going into and make a definite commitment to
their marriage, undermining all marriage pressures, the rate of divorce in our
society will greatly reduced.
